The Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies was established as a Universidad del Pacífico initiative with the aim of promoting the research, exchange, teaching and dissemination of specialized knowledge on China and the Asia-Pacific region.
Research
The center seeks to generate knowledge on China and Asia-Pacific based on a strategic vision and long-term perspective, focusing on five wide-ranging lines of research.

About Us
Dr. Cynthia Sanborn who holds a PhD and MA in Government from Harvard University, is the center’s director. The deputy director is Jose Carlos Feliciano Nishikawa, with an MBA from China Europe International Business School.

The Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies (CECHAP) began work in January 2013 and constitutes a pioneering initiative within the framework of the Universidad del Pacífico (UP)’s institutional internationalization, taking into account the importance and impact of China and the Asia-Pacific region in the evolution of the world economy and that of Peru in particular. Founded as the Center of Peru-China Studies, the center adopted its current name in 2017 to reflect the expansion of its field of inquiry to the Asia-Pacific region, while retaining China as its main focus.
