Juan Luis Dammert
Latin America Director at Natural Resource Governance Institute
Juan Luis Dammert earned a B.A. in Sociology from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Geography from the Graduate School of Geography at Clark University, Massachusetts. He is currently the Latin America Director at the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI). Prior to that he was worked for Oxfam in Peru and the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law (SPDA). He has been an adjunct professor for PUCP between 2006 and 2012 and also in 2019. He has also worked as a consultant for Universidad del Pacifico, Wildlife Conservation Society and GRADE, among many others. His research interests examine issues of resource governance, extractive industries, infrastructure development and environmental change in Latin America. His doctoral research focused on the expansion of large-scale plantations in the Peruvian Amazon.
