GUO Jie is a tenured Associate Professor in the School of International Studies at Peking University. Her research focuses on Latin American studies, China–Latin America relations, comparative politics, and Cold War history. GUO has authored five monographs and contributed to multiple edited and co-authored volumes, alongside numerous peer-reviewed journal articles. Her recent publications include works such as Beyond Growthism: An Examination of Qualitative Development in the Global South (2025); The Political Economy of China–Latin America Relations: The Making of a Post-Boom Paradigm (2023); Latin America and the Caribbean: Economic Globalization and Its Spillover Effects (2023); Tan Lejos, Tan Cerca: On the Intellectual Implications of Latin American Studies in East Asia (2021); Changing China–Latin America Economic Engagement: Diversification and Its Prospects (2020); and Cutting the Distance: Benefits and Tensions from Recent Active Engagement of China, Japan, and Korea in Latin America (co-authored with Nobuaki Hamaguchi and Chong-Sup Kim, 2018).
GUO holds a PhD in law from Peking University. From 2007 to 2024, she held visiting scholar and research fellow positions at institutions including the University of Hong Kong, the European Union, the Kettering Foundation (USA), the Inter-American Dialogue (USA), Universidad del Pacífico (Peru), Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil), Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina), El Colegio de México (Mexico), and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (Peru).
