His research centers on natural resource governance in Latin America, with a focus on conflict management and corporate-community relations. He holds a PhD in Political Science from Boston University, where he collaborated closely with the Global Development Policy Center as a Global China Fellow. His dissertation, Mobilizing the Inca Heartland: A Study of Mining Conflicts in Southern Peru, explores corporate-community conflict dynamics surrounding large-scale copper mining projects in Peru’s southern mining corridor. Currently, his work examines Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) regulations within South America’s renewable energy value chain and evaluates the compliance of overseas Chinese companies in the region. Additionally, he studies the gendered impacts of natural resource extraction in the Peruvian Andes, focusing on how Chinese investment in the mining sector influences gender dynamics.
