Omar Narrea

Omar Narrea

Researcher at the Center for China and Asia Pacific Studies

His research agenda related to Asia includes port networks within the Belt and Road Initiative, global value chains policies and industrial parks, as well as special economic zones. As part of his doctoral project, he is researching on the energy transition in copper mines in southern Peru. In the extractive resources sector, he has participated in research and policy studies on both large-scale mining (Quellaveco, Yanacocha, and Las Bambas) and small-scale mining in Madre de Dios and Arequipa. He is an economist and postgraduate lecturer at the Universidad del Pacífico. He was awarded the Chevening scholarship for the MSc in Mega Infrastructure Projects at the University College London and holds an MSc in Social Policy from the London School of Economics. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Environmental Sciences at the National University of San Marcos.
