On Wednesday, November 6, the Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies participated in the 2024 Dialogue between the Civilizations of China and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Forum. This event was organized by the China International Communication Group (CICG) in collaboration with the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies (ACCWS) within the framework of the tenth anniversary of the creation of the China-CELAC forum. It was attended by more than 150 representatives, including government officials, academics and business leaders from China and more than 10 Latin American countries.

José Carlos Feliciano, Associate Director of Cechap, and Omar Narrea, Cechap researcher, were invited to participate in the various sessions held during the meeting. Associate Director Feliciano gave the presentation “The Role of the Universidad del Pacífico in the teaching and understanding of Contemporary China”. On the other hand, Narrea presented his research entitled “A New Economic Corridor in the Belt and Road Initiative? The Port of Chancay”. The event focused on the theme “The Legacy of Civilization and the Development of Modernization,” exploring avenues for deepening cultural exchange, collaboration and joint modernization efforts between China and LAC. This theme was explored through 3 simultaneous panels: City Exchanges and Dialogue of Civilizations, Heritage Protection and Legacy of Civilizations, and Youth Development and Innovation of Civilizations.
