CECHAP participates in the 6th FLAUC annual meeting
On December 4, 5 and 6, 2024, the Fudan-Latin America University Consortium (FLAUC) 6th Annual Meeting and Members’ Assembly was held at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. This event brought together academics and FLAUC members to discuss key issues on innovation, policy and sustainable development in China-Latin America relations. The meeting included more than 40 academic papers presented by professors and experts from various FLAUC member universities. Among the outstanding participants were also representatives of the most prominent China-Latin America Study Centers in the region, who contributed valuable perspectives in several roundtable discussions.
José Carlos Feliciano, Associate Director of CECHAP, moderated the panel “Technology as a space for geopolitical competition” and presented a paper on the Center’s ongoing research programs and projects. Nifta Lau, CECHAP researcher, presented on the implications of the Chinese diaspora policy for the Chinese in Peru, at the panel dedicated to globalization, multipolarity and geopolitics, with a focus on China’s role in the global order. Finally, David Mayorga, researcher affiliated to CECHAP, presented the paper “Green Innovation capabilities: lesson from Chinese high-tech firms” at the round table on the tensions and synergies between the environment and development in the context of the energy transition.
The meeting also included the FLAUC Members’ Assembly, where the network’s actions were reviewed and project proposals for 2025 were discussed. This event highlighted the importance of strengthening academic, policy and research ties between China and Latin America, providing a space for the exchange of ideas and international collaboration in an increasingly interconnected global context.
