CECHAP participates in the APEC Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting in Arequipa
On February 22 and 23, 2024, CECHAP took part in the “Unlocking investment opportunities in renewable energy and other technologies” panel at the APEC Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting at the Cerro Juli Convention Center in Arequipa.
Omar Narrea, on behalf of CECHAP, presented the case of energy transition in southern Peru’s large copper mining projects of southern Peru. Representatives from Indonesia and Australia were especially interested in the presentation given that extractive resources also play an important role in their economies.
The event featured representatives from the ministries of economy and central banks of the 21 APEC member economies, in addition to multilateral agencies and international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Asian Development Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the United Nations Development Program. Also represented were bodies specializing in the energy sector such as the International Energy Agency and the Asia Pacific Energy Research Center (APERC).
