CECHAP receives Dr. Saori Katada
On Wednesday August 21, Dr. Saori Katada, Director of the Center for International Studies at the University of Southern California, made an academic visit to the Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies to learn more about the Center and to promote interest in the study of Japan from Latin America.
During her visit, Professor Katada met with the Center’s Director, Dr. Cynthia A. Sanborn, the administrative staff and the research team. At the meeting, she described her background and current research, as well as her initiative to promote academic publishing by non-English speakers. Professor Katada then held a dialogue session with students and faculty from the UP community, where she discussed the historical evolution of Japan’s national strategy from the Meiji era to the Reiwa era, the current Japanese era.
Dr. Saori Katada, a professor in the School of International Relations at the University of Southern California, holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of North Carolina and is a recognized expert on international political economy and the Asia Pacific region.
