CECHAP researcher participates in the 35th Northern Business Meeting

From October 16 to 18, Omar Narrea, researcher of the Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies, participated in the 35th Northern Business Meeting (EEN) organized by the Chamber of Commerce of La Libertad and the National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (CONFIEP). This event, held in Trujillo, was attended by business associations, representatives of national and international companies, authorities and members of academia. It was a space for reflection and learning in the business environment that addressed crucial issues that impact on business sustainability and the socioeconomic agenda of the country.

Omar Narrea was invited to the conference as professor of the School of Public Management and CECHAP researcher at Universidad del Pacífico. Narrea participated in the panel “Trade Integration of Peru in the World: Challenges and Strategies for Competitiveness”, where he presented the paper “Economic Corridor in the North to take advantage of markets via Chancay”. In the presentation, he discussed the port of Chancay as an accelerator of economic transformations, the Asian economic corridors for diversification and linkage, the transformation opportunities for the northern corridor, and the model to strengthen the economic corridors.

Finally, Narrea argued that the north coast of Peru will be the first corridor to take advantage of the port of Chancay. The size of the cities has created a very favorable environment for entrepreneurs and added to the fabric of large companies, investments in agribusiness, fishing, digital economy and assembly will make great leaps looking to Asia.
