Dr. Yusuke Murakami and Dr. Saori Katada met with members of Kazoku, a UP student organization dedicated to spreading Japanese culture.

On Monday, October 13, 2025, Dr. Yusuke Murakami, Professor at Kyoto University, and Dr. Saori Katada, Professor at the University of Southern California (USC), held a meeting with Kazoku, the student association of Universidad del Pacifico dedicated to promoting and disseminating Japanese culture through research, language study, and cultural activities aimed at bringing the university community closer to contemporary Japan.

During the meeting, students engaged in a rich dialogue where they shared the role and initiatives of their organization, as well as their questions on various topics related to Japan, its international context, and its impact on bilateral relations with Peru.

The meeting began with presentations by the board members of Kazoku, including its president and the heads of different areas—such as marketing, logistics, manga, and language—who explained their roles, goals, and personal and professional motivations for being part of the organization.

Finally, the students had an engaging conversation with the guest professors and took the opportunity to record audiovisual material with questions in English and Spanish for their future projects.

From CECHAP, we celebrate these spaces for academic and cultural exchange that strengthen ties between distinguished international scholars and Universidad del Pacifico students interested in deepening their knowledge of Asia.
