Framework Agreement for Inter-institutional Cooperation between the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Universidad del Pacífico
On Tuesday January 31, at Universidad del Pacífico, Ambassador Ana Rosa Valdivieso general secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Miguel Bravo, general director of administration at Universidad del Pacífico, signed the Framework Agreement for Inter-institutional Cooperation between the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Universidad del Pacífico. Also present were Dr. Arlette Beltrán, vice-president for research at UP; Dr. Rosario Santa Gadea, director of the UP Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies (CECHAP); Dr. Joanna Kámiche Zegarra, director of the UP Research Center (CIUP); Ambassador Fernando Quirós, general director of Asia and Oceania at the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Minister SDR Renato Reyes, director of APEC and specialized forums within the ministry, among other participants from the ministry and CECHAP as well as several invited UP professors.
This agreement is part of the preparations for Peru’s presidency of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) in 2024. The intention is to forge a solid collaborative relationship between the two institutions—through academic research and knowledge exchange—with a focus on the priority issues for the Peruvian presidency, with a view to promoting inclusive economic growth and formulating public policies that contribute to it. The agreement also promotes research on the transition of informal economic actors to the formal economy, the role of digital connectivity to this end, and other matters on the agenda of Peru’s APEC presidency.
In its promotion of cooperation between academia and the state in the context of Peru’s international projection towards Asia-Pacific, the signing of this framework agreement represents a milestone for UP and the Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies.
