ICLAC Visits Universidad del Pacífico
On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the Millennium Nucleus Impacts of China in Latin America and the Caribbean (ICLAC) visited Universidad del Pacifico as part of its participation in the event “Adaptive China: Connecting with Local Realities in Latin America and Beyond,” organized by Universidad del Pacifico and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The meeting aimed to strengthen institutional ties and explore new opportunities for academic and research collaboration.
Representing Universidad del Pacifico were Gustavo Yamada, Vice President for Research; María Jose Guardia, Director of International Relations; and Cynthia Sanborn, Director of the Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies (CECHAP). Attending on behalf of ICLAC were María Montt, Vice President for International Affairs at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, and Francisco Urdinez, Director of ICLAC.
During the meeting, both institutions exchanged perspectives on potential joint initiatives and agreed on the importance of further expanding research and analysis on China in Latin America. ICLAC and CECHAP share a common approach to the relevance of studying China’s impact at both the regional and subnational levels, opening the door to future academic collaborations.
