International workshop on Indonesia and Southeast Asia with an expert from Australian National University

The Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies of the University of the Pacific and the Australian Embassy for Peru and Bolivia organized this international workshop, titled Indonesia and Southeast Asia: Exploring potentialities in relations with Peru, which was held on June 4th 2019. The opening words were given by Vice Chancellor for Research at UP, Dr. Cynthia Sanborn, and Her Excellency Mrs. Diana Nelson, Australian Ambassador for Peru and Bolivia. The keynote speech was given by Professor Gregory Fealy of Australian National University. During his presentation, Professor Fealy explained that Southeast Asia is one of the world’s most economically dynamic regions and one of the most important from a strategic perspective. Mrs. Magali Silva, former minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism in Peru, presented commentaries that highlighted the progress that Peru has made in global integration while examining the challenges that the country faces in its commercial relations with the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in particular Indonesia. The event ended with words of thanks from Mrs. Melisa Apriliyani of the Commercial and Economic Section of the Indonesian Embassy in Peru.
