Professor Norberto Barreto presented research at an international symposium in Changsha, China
Chinese experts requested the Center for references on academic specialists in U.S.-Latin America relations to participate in the “International Symposium on the Neighborhood: Diplomacy of Big Powers” in Changsha. In this context, Professor Norberto Barreto, from the UP Department of Humanities, was invited by the Hunan Academy of Social Sciences (HASS) and the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) to the aforementioned international symposium where he presented the paper “The Good Neighbor: US-Latin American Policy in the Twentieth Century”, which will be published in Chinese. This event was held on October 25th, 2018 and was attended by 19 scholars from eight countries (Pakistan, Russia, Brazil, South Korea, Panama, Peru, the United States and China). The objective of the event was to analyze, from the historical, political and economic perspective, the way in which the great powers have related to their neighbors.
