Professor Sanborn disserted on International Conference organized by SIIS
On October 30th, 2019, Professor Sanborn was part of the International Conference “China, US and Latin America Relationship in a Transforming International Order” organized by the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS). Her presentation, titled “New Partners, Old Wounds: Latin America, China and the Challenges to Development Collaboration”, stressed that even though China is a new player in Latin America, the problems it will have to deal with are very old. In order to have a healthy relation with Latin American countries, China will have to practice Global Standards regarding Transparency and Accountability, promote Protection of Women and Indigenous People, comply to Environmental Guidelines, spur Innovation and engage with more stakeholders than just the Governments considering diversity in our societies at different levels.
