Researchers from the Center participate in the Annual Fudan–Latin America University Consortium Conference
On November 10 and 11, the Fudan-Latin America University Consortium Annual Meeting 2022:
Transpacific Relations in Times of Uncertainty took place, hosted this year by the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico.
This forum brought together a group of prominent academics from the FLAUC network’s member institutions, Universidad del Pacífico among them, to discuss and exchange knowledge on issues related to China and Latin America. FLAUC is a platform for exchange, communication, and cooperation between Fudan University in Shanghai, China, and fifteen of the most important universities in the region.
The event agenda included presentations grouped into six thematic lines and round tables:
cooperation for sustainable development; investment and trade; governance, geopolitics and financial order; promotion of national development; society and culture; and urban development.
On the first day, Antonio Cusato, research affiliate at the center, presented his research, “The utilization of trade preferences under the Peru–China FTA.. During the first roundtable on the second day, Nifta Lau, postdoctoral researcher at the center, presented a paper called “China’s Global Image and the “Mask Diplomacy” in Latin America”, while research affiliate Leolino Dourado presented his paper, “Twitter as a Public Diplomacy and Signaling Instrument: The Case of the Chinese Diplomatic Missions in Latin America.”
Finally, during the second roundable on the second day, Dr. Rosario Santa Gadea, director of the center, presented a paper entitled “The Middle-Income Trap or the Challenges of Development: A Comparative Approach of China and Peru.” Finally, Mario Chong, another of the center’s research affiliates, presented his paper: “Managing Spaces to Increase Access to Essential Foods: Fast Delivery Realities and Characteristics”.
