Students and Professors from Universidad del Pacifico Visit the Port of Chancay

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, students and professors from Universidad del Pacifico (UP) carried out a study visit to the Port of Chancay. The activity was part of our university’s Research Workshop on the port and was organized by CECHAP, with support from COSCO Shipping Ports Chancay and the Chancay Customs Office.

The purpose of the visit was for students to directly experience the port’s facilities and learn more about its history, structure, and monitoring the first year of operations. Throughout the day, participants took part in a guided tour and attended presentations led by officials from COSCO Shipping Ports Chancay. These presentations addressed key aspects such as the port’s development, main features, operational technology, cargo flows, and future expansion plans.

The visit also included a tour of the National Superintendency of Tax Administration (SUNAT) office, where the customs administration responsible for foreign trade operations is based. Representatives from the institution explained their roles regarding the administration, control and oversight of foreign trade operations passing through this terminal, including imports, exports, and international transshipment.

Participants in this study visit included professors Omar Narrea, Leolino Dourado, and Freddy Injoque, along with students and research assistants Rodrigo Vigo Izaguirre, Piero Gutiérrez Cruz, Luz Gutiérrez Alburqueque, Sergio Serrano Caballero, Lucciana Rengifo Granados, Nadia Ramos Cadenillas, Fernando Cano Wong, Jeremy Patiño Huamanchumo, and María Alejandra Ramos Cadenillas.

These activities reinforce Universidad del Pacifico’s commitment to comprehensive education that combines academic learning with practical experiences in real-world settings. In this way, students can connect the knowledge acquired in the classroom with the realities of international trade as well as the challenges and opportunities that the country faces in the logistics sector.
