The Center Receives the Australian Ambassador to Peru
On Thursday, September 8, 2022, the director of the Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies, Dr. Rosario Santa Gadea, welcomed the ambassador of Australia to Peru and Bolivia, Her Excellency Mrs. Maree Ringland, along with Ms. Olivia Williams, second secretary of the embassy, to UP. The meeting took place amid the interest of the Australian Embassy to Peru and Bolivia in learning more about the center’s work and approach and exchanging ideas for future collaboration. Dr. Santa Gadea was accompanied by Mr. José Carlos Feliciano, the center’s deputy director, and Mr. Bryan Andía, assistant to the director.
During the meeting, Dr. Santa Gadea gave a presentation on the center’s objectives, approach, and outcomes in terms of research, networks and alliances, publications and academic events, and its activities and/or relations with Australia. Next, both parties explored collaboration ideas for events and/or academic exchange with Australian study centers oriented towards China and Asia-Pacific and/or Latin American studies. Finally, the embassy delegation received a formal greeting from the rector of Universidad del Pacífico, Dr. Felipe Portocarrero, with whom the Australian diplomats discussed UP’s academic agreements with Australian universities, student interest in academic exchange with Australia, and prospects for research cooperation on common themes for both countries.
