Director of the Center conducted her sixth academic mission to China
From October 18- November 6, 2019, Dr. Rosario Santa Gadea conducted her sixth academic mission to China, where she met with academic authorities and experts from universities and think tanks in Bejing and Shanghai. These encounters included, depending on the case, thematic workshops; follow-up meetings on matters addressed during previous missions; initial approaches to learn more about one another; and other aspects. The Director visited Fudan University, whose Dean and Vice Dean of the School of Economics, professors Zhang Jun and Kou Zonglai, were speakers at the Center’s Annual Symposium, held at UP on August 20, 2019. Dr. Rosario Santa Gadea also had meetings with academics from Tsinghua University, China Europe International Business School, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, University of International Economics and Business, among others. In the framework of collaboration on a jointly-authored book about Finding a Way to Avoid the Middle Income Trap: The Cases of China and Peru, meetings were held with the Director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and professors from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai University of International Economics and Business, who participated in developing the book. The yearly academic meetings constitute one of the Center’s main strategies to establish relations with prestigious academic institutions in China and have led to the co-organization of events, joint research and academic exchanges.
