On September 23rd, 2020, the center participated in the e-APEC Study Centers Consortium Conference 2020 (e-ASCCC 2020) Towards an Inclusive, Sustainable Growth and Shared Prosperity Post-Pandemic organized by the APEC Malaysian Study Center (MASC) at the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, as part of that country’s hosting of APEC in 2020. The conference covered the following topics: improvements to the investment and trade narrative, inclusive participation through the digital economy, and technology and the promotion of sustainable innovation. These topics were distributed among five panels—the first two topics were discussed over two panels each, while the third was restricted to a single panel— during which the participants gave presentations on their research. Dr. Santa Gadea, who presented her project Asia-Pacific in the World Economy: Trends and Opportunities for Peru, was one of just two Peruvian representatives present; she also took part in the roundtable discussion alongside Muhammad Noor Yacob, a former ambassador and permanent representative of the Kingdom of Malaysia to the WTO. This roundtable was chaired by His Royal Highness Tunku Zain Al-‘Abidin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz, second son of Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, one of the states in Malaysia’s federation.
