Round Table “Peru-China: Exploring Research Cooperation and Knowledge Sharing”

On September 25 th 2019, the Round Table “Peru-China: Exploring Research Cooperation and Knowledge Sharing” was held between the Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies of Universidad del Pacífico and the China Institutes of International Contemporary Relations (CICIR). The chinese delegation was presided by Dr. Fun Mengzi, Vicepresident of CICIR. The round table started with the presentations about the institutions at Universidad del Pacífico by the Vicepresident for Research, Dr. Arlette Beltrán, the Research Center’s Director, Dr. Gustavo Yamada and the Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies’ Director, Rosario Santa Gadea. Later, the institutional presentation about CICIR was held and the discussion about topics started. The first section was about the Belt and Road Initiative: A parallel between China-Asia and China-Latin America. The speakers were the Vicepresident of CICIR, Fu Mengzi and Dr. Rosario Santa Gadea. The second section addressed the challenges of China-Latin America relations and was on charge of the Director of the Institute for Latin American Studies from CICIR, Yang Shouguo. The third section was on charge of the Head of the Academic Department of Economics at Universidad del Pacífico, Carlos Parodi who made an exposition about the Peruvian economy, its evolution and prospects. Finally, there was a general discussion and ideas interchange. It is to notice that CICIR is considered the Nº 1 think tank in China in the Global Go to Think Tank Report 2018 that was published this year. ​
