Analysis on the Challenges of Globalization, the Growing Role of China in the World Economy and Politics, and the Dynamism of the Asia–Pacific region

Description:

This publication, another conference paper in the Center for China and Asia-Pacific Studies series, documents a presentation given by Professor Chen Dongxiao, Ph.D., President of Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), at the international conference “China and Asia-Pacific in Globalization:

Trends and Challenges”— jointly held by our center, the Peruvian Diplomatic Academy, and SIIS in September 2018. Professor Chen Dongxiao discusses the ways in which the Chinese government perceives and approaches its links with the world, in terms of bilateral relations and its diplomatic agenda. The paper is divided into three sections. The first explores how China views the great changes unfolding around the world. The second examines China’s diplomatic agenda for the future, focusing on how it combines adherence to fundamental principles with adaptation to the current context. The third addresses the joint partnerships between China and other countries to achieve cooperation and mutual benefits during these uncertain times.
